Stand-off

It is a rare treat to see Elephants and Rhinos together. To see them interacting is even more unusual. The Thanda Safari guests enjoyed this incredible sighting of two White Rhino cows challenging one of Thanda’s largest Elephant bulls. This happened after the Elephant herd’s matriarch had chased a younger Rhino bull away from her youngsters.

The large Elephant bull did not back off and a face-to-face stand-off was the result. As often in the animal world the situation dissolved in an anti-climax, as both parties started feeding and moved around one another as nothing had ever happened 🙂
