Always on the move!
To get a picture of a Banded Mongoose is quite difficult and it usually depicts an animal on the run. These small mammals are always on the move and are quite shy. So it was a very special sighting when one member of a group of Banded Mongooses decided to stop for a few seconds and have a good look at our vehicle.
Banded Mongooses live in savannas, open forests and grasslands and feeds primarily on Beetles and Millipedes. Mongooses use various types of dens for shelter including Termite mounds. While most Mongoose species live solitary lives, the Banded Mongoose live in colonies with a complex social structure.
